A hallway is more than just a means of accessing other rooms in your home, it is, and should be regarded as a room in it’s own right, especially as it probably the first room to receive visitors and usually receives the most traffic and wear and tear. It therefore sounds obvious to identify that it should be kept clean and tidy with shoes tidied away and skirting boards touched up after scuffs.
It’s a couple of years since we first met our friends at Smart Furnishings.
The staircase in the center of their store was in need of a renovation and we were glad to be of service. Since this time, the lovely people at Smart Furnishings have been happy to invite people into their store to see the quality of the installation for themselves before taking the plunge with a staircase of their own and even pointing their own customers in our direction.
It’s not the first time that an Abbott-Wade staircase been used as a major selling point for a beautiful house. The customer selling this home was very disappointed to be leaving behind his beautiful oak staircase. The striking oak feature step with a backdrop of chamfered oak and forged steel Winsor spindles acending the oak stairs still makes a striking impact in the entrance hall several years on from their original installation.
It’s official – we’ve now entered our 20th year in business!
Unlike other companies who claim to have 20 years experience because someone there once sold a few stair parts, Abbott-Wade have been specialising in the installation and renovation of staircases since the beginning. Since that historic venture in 1996, there have been weddings and babies, laughter and tears, familiar faces come and gone. While a lot has changed over the years, a lot of things also remain the same.
There are lots of things which have always set us apart from other staircase installation companies, like our prefinished materials which mean that once our fitting teams have visited, the work is compete without the need for return visits by painters or French polishers. Not all companies can offer you the choice of a new flight or a renovation either, as Abbott-Wade does. These are important factors to consider when choosing a company to transform your staircase, but we don’t pretend that these factors are exclusive to Abbott-Wade, so what else sets us apart from the others?
We understand that lots of little things add up to make a big difference, so we know that it’s not just the big changes we make which make an impact either. We’re a family business, not a big faceless organisation and we like to think of ourselves as a company with a conscience – whether it’s the way we treat our staff, our customers or the environment. We know that it’s the little things we do which culminate to make the biggest impact.
One of the many nice things of being a small business is being able to celebrate individual successes and there have been many. We have celebrated new homes, marriages and new babies. We swelled with pride when our hardworking apprentices received their qualifications, when team leader Lee gained his HND with distinctions and when fitter Charles represented his country on a Canadian rugby tour.
Now we’d like to take a moment to share with you the achievement of our very own ‘Clarke Kent’.
Mild mannered and unassuming fitter Ellis Grimes has always shown that he excels with his joinery skills, but now our very own Superman has demonstrated his expertise on the rugby field.
Whatever it is you’re buying, chances are you’ll be shopping around to get the best price you can. But what do you actually get for your money? It’s important to be clear on what you are buying. Will there be any hidden charges for designs or surveys? Will you have any work to do after the installation is finished?
